Whitney Kumar Returns to the Spotlight as Judy Justice Begins Another Season – 2026

When Judy Justice premiered its fourth season on Amazon Prime Video on January 19, 2026, fans of courtroom television had yet another reason to tune in: the return of Whitney Kumar, acclaimed court stenographer and certified court reporter, who continues to bring professionalism, expertise, and her trademark precision to one of streaming’s most talked-about legal reality series.

For viewers who follow the legal genre, Judy Justice represents the next chapter in the storied television career of Judge Judith Sheindlin, a former Manhattan Family Court judge who became a cultural icon through her long-running syndicated series Judge Judy. That program dominated daytime television for 25 seasons, and its successor — Judy Justice — has carved out a formidable presence on Prime Video, combining real-life disputes with Sheindlin’s signature no-nonsense style. The fourth season continues that tradition, rolling out new episodes on weekdays with more cases, more clarity, and more of the brisk judicial wisdom that audiences crave.

Amid this return to the courtroom mechanics and drama is Whitney Kumar, who remains a steady and essential presence on the show’s bench. She serves as the court stenographer — the specialist tasked with capturing every word, testimony, objection, and ruling with exacting accuracy. That role puts her at the heart of the courtroom, where her work is not merely technical but essential to the integrity of the proceedings and to the storytelling that keeps millions of viewers engaged week after week.

The Role That Defines Precision

Unlike many courtroom series that omit a real court reporter, Judy Justice opted early on to include one — and in Whitney Kumar it found the perfect fit. Trained and certified as a shorthand reporter in California, Kumar brings nearly two decades of professional experience to the role. Her background includes years working as both a deposition and official reporter, and she has built a reputation for meticulous attention to detail, deep knowledge of legal terminology, and a calm command of even the most fast-paced proceedings.

Her presence on Judy Justice elevates the show’s authenticity. In a genre where personality and pace often dominate, the addition of a seasoned court reporter underscores the program’s commitment to reality — real people, real disputes, and real documentation of the record. For the audience, that means what happens in the courtroom isn’t just for show: it’s recorded with the same seriousness and precision found in actual legal settings.

A Career Forged in Courtrooms and High-Profile Cases

Long before becoming a recognizable face (and name) among Judy Justice fans, Whitney Kumar had already built an impressive career behind the scenes in the legal world. A graduate of South Coast College, she established herself as a go-to reporter across a wide spectrum of civil matters in California, from family law to complex business disputes. She also served as an approved reporter in both Los Angeles and Orange County Superior Courts, a testament to her professional credibility.

Kumar’s work has included reporting high-profile cases — an experience that sharpened her skills and prepared her for the intensified pace of television production. In 2018, she co-founded KW Court Reporting, bringing her expertise to a new generation of attorneys and legal professionals. Her firm quickly earned recognition for its blend of accuracy, discretion, and personalized service.

In many ways, the transition to television was a natural evolution. With a career grounded in real courtrooms, Whitney was already adept at translating spoken testimony into a precise written record — the same skill required for on-screen work, but amplified for a broader audience. Her ability to maintain calm, consistent accuracy amid lively courtroom moments has made her invaluable to the Judy Justice production team and its fans alike.

Beyond the Bench – Representation and Recognition

Part of what makes Whitney Kumar’s return noteworthy goes beyond her technical role. As a woman of color representing the often-underappreciated profession of court reporting on a major platform, she highlights a career path that is as vital to justice as that of the judge herself. Court reporters are the custodians of the official record, and by featuring one prominently on Judy Justice, the show brings attention to a profession that rarely enjoys the spotlight despite its significance in legal systems worldwide.

Kumar has also earned accolades off screen. With two Daytime Emmy Awards associated with the Judy Justice franchise and credits on IMDb, her profile reflects both industry recognition and the growing visibility of court reporting in mainstream media.

What Viewers Can Expect This Season

As Judy Justice unfolds its fourth season, viewers can expect more of the courtroom’s signature blend of compelling disputes and no-nonsense resolutions. The episodes — released on weekdays — offer a mix of relatable conflicts that range from small-claims squabbles to disputes with broader legal implications. Throughout, Whitney Kumar remains an integral part of the court’s rhythm, quietly ensuring that every word is captured, every testimony faithfully documented, and every moment recorded for posterity.

For longtime fans and new viewers alike, Kumar’s return is a reminder that great television often rests on the strength of those who work behind the scenes, bringing depth, skill, and authenticity to the screen. Whether you’re tuning in for Judge Sheindlin’s razor-sharp rulings or for the dynamic courtroom interplay, Whitney Kumar stands as a testament to the expertise that underpins great legal storytelling.

As Judy Justice continues its run, audiences will no doubt appreciate — perhaps more than ever — the precision and professionalism that Whitney brings to every episode.

We exist to facilitate the fortifying of the Stenography profession and ensure its survival for the next hundred years! As court reporters, we've handed the relationship role with our customers, or attorneys, over to the agencies and their sales reps.  This has done a lot of damage to our industry.  It has taken away our ability to have those relationships, the ability to be humanized and valued.  We've become a replaceable commodity. Merely saying we are the “Gold Standard” tells them that we’re the best, but there are alternatives.  Who we are though, is much, much more powerful than that!  We are the Responsible Charge.  “Responsible Charge” means responsibility for the direction, control, supervision, and possession of stenographic & transcription work, as the case may be, to assure that the work product has been critically examined and evaluated for compliance with appropriate professional standards by a licensee in the profession, and by sealing and signing the documents, the professional stenographer accepts responsibility for the stenographic or transcription work, respectively, represented by the documents and that applicable stenographic and professional standards have been met.  This designation exists in other professions, such as engineering, land surveying, public water works, landscape architects, land surveyors, fire preventionists, geologists, architects, and more.  In the case of professional engineers, the engineering association adopted a Responsible Charge position statement that says, “A professional engineer is only considered to be in responsible charge of an engineering work if the professional engineer makes independent professional decisions regarding the engineering work without requiring instruction or approval from another authority and maintains control over those decisions by the professional engineer’s physical presence at the location where the engineering work is performed or by electronic communication with the individual executing the engineering work.” If we were to adopt a Responsible Charge position statement for our industry, we could start with a draft that looks something like this: "A professional court reporter, or stenographer, is only considered to be in responsible charge of court reporting work if the professional court reporter makes independent professional decisions regarding the court reporting work without requiring instruction or approval from another authority and maintains control over those decisions by the professional court reporter’s physical presence at the location where the court reporting work is performed or by electronic communication with the individual executing the court reporting work.” Shared purpose The cornerstone of a strategic narrative is a shared purpose. This shared purpose is the outcome that you and your customer are working toward together. It’s more than a value proposition of what you deliver to them. Or a mission of what you do for the world. It’s the journey that you are on with them. By having a shared purpose, the relationship shifts from consumer to co-creator. In court reporting, our mission is “to bring justice to every litigant in the U.S.”  That purpose is shared by all involved in the litigation process – judges, attorneys, everyone.  Who we are is the Responsible Charge.  How we do that is by Protecting the Record.
